This traditional method sparkling rose from Italy. An oustandingly deep rose colour. A scent of the crust on a cherry pie with delicate white flowers. The palate offers brilliant acidicty which cuts through most flavours creating a refreshing drink.
Would improve with reduced acidity to allow for the primary notes to shine through, however those that do are reminiscent of red berries and a slight nutiness. A blend of Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese. 5g/l Dosage. 12.5% abv. 85/100
A blend from various Crus offers a Champagne which has a lot of complexity. A palate of lemons and white apricot, with a subtle hint of jasmine. Despite its initial complexity the mouthfeel does give way quite quickly and could be classed as a standard 'in style' Champagne. It is a Chardonnay dominant blend with 55%, Pinot Noir 30% and Meunier at 15%. The 3 years on the lees does give a slight brioche note in the nose, but not on the palate. 6g/l Dosage. 12.5% abv. 83/100
A true testament to the quality of sparkling wine Britain can produce. A 100% Chardonnay traditional method sparkling offers tart apple pie on the nose with hints of lemon zest and lime rind.
The palate is hit with racing acidity (helped by its cool vintage) and a dryness. However, the mouthfeel is one of creaminess and very delicate soft bubbles. The acidity allows for a long, dry, chalky finish. An outstanding wine. 7.5g/l Dosage. 12% abv. 93/100
An Italian sparkling wine made of a blend with Muller Thurgau and Durella is a nice move away from your generic Italian sparklings. However, the flavour characteristics of the two grapes failed to shine through. With an outrageously powerful sparkling element, the wine offers little more than a refereshing palate cleanser. 11.5% abv. 70/100
A fine example of English sparkling wine. A blend of Chardonnay 61%, Pinot Meunier 21%, and Pinot Noir 18%. Aged for 6 years on the lees gives this wine an obvious baked tart aroma with stewed red apples, lemon rind, white flowers, and peach. Its palate offers an immediate creaminess followed by mouth watering acidity with candied lemon and white peach behind. The finish is long as expected and has a prounced chalky expression. 2g/l Dosage. 14% French Oak fermented. 12% abv. 94/100
